March 24 it is time for Earth Hour, a WWF organized environmental manifestation of the world. People all over the world attend and lit up lanterns according to their time zones symbolizing signal to politicians to take practical steps. Globally hundreds of cities and municipalities have signed up.
Earth Hour is a great event for mass awareness about depleting condition of the planet and let people to show that they really care. The prime reason of Earth Hour is that the people send a strong and symbolic signal to world political leadership to look and act in the climate issues as extermination is not about saving energy. Investors, industrialists, politicians, companies and cities must take solid steps that make it easier to live sustainable life.
We should put efforts to build pressure that is necessary for the world to the goals that are defined in Paris Agreement. By the year 2020, the global release should must be taken downwards and principally to the halve every ten years. The leaders and decisions makers should take stern actions for the implementation of new Sweden Climate Law that has been endorsed by the broad political majority across the world.
Basically celebrating only an hour would not help that much to save the world, however, by publicizing this event it contributes as any action at any level does count and people at individual capacity can also make their own contribution to save the planet.
To help the plant, following are 5 useful tips in everyday life:
At Home: We can decrease daily energy use at home. It’s good idea to start decreasing the power consumption to the half by unplugging the electrical devices and lights etc. when they are not needed and especially during the earth hour. Also better to double the contribution of production of renewable electricity at our own.
The beef: Lessen consumption of meat and positively increase the intake of green proteins including vegetables and fruits - it is worthful both for you and the planet.
The car: Make efforts to move climatically though public transport or even use the bikes, as much as possible. Alternatively halve the travel with fossil fuels.
Plastic Bags: Promise to refuse plastic cutlery when eating out. Do not buy food in plastic wrappings and bottles. Use recycling bags than the plastic bags. If everybody who carries through the promises made on Earth Day and the continues doing so even after the Earth Hour, it really will make a huge impact to reduce the amount of carbon and plastic overloading the planet.
The store: Use wisely - decrease the climate issues by using circular and digital services.
