One of the first things I learned about building websites is that often times simpler is better. The very first WordPress theme I used was as basic as they come.
I don't get the sense from my first impression that Ecency is basic, yet it is elegant in its simplicity of design. Black words on a plain white background is what readers like best, and Ecency gives it to them.
All the coding icons are at the top of post creation as I write here on my cellphone. Next comes the title, tags, and post body.
Below the body of the article is an option bar to set your post rewards. Either 50/50, 100% Power Up, or Decline Payout are the choices. Beside this bar on the right is a post 'Clear' button.
Post Preview
Going in order as I scroll down, the post Preview a section comes next. It states clearly 'Preview' in blue lettering, with word count and estimated reading time over to the right.
Finally, scrolling to the very bottom of the screen reveals the Publish button in a solid blue tab. Don't click this one until you are ready!
Ecency Homepage
This, of course, only covers the the post creation function of Ecency. The homepage offers all the brilliance and simplicity as the website editor.
At the very top is the Ecency heart icon. Tap that and you'll return home from your current page. Below the heart you'll see three navigation options.
- Global
- Communities
- FAQ
These lead to their respective pages which have a consortium of functions once there. I'll be spending the next few days getting familiar with the greater website.
Under the three navigation tabs (all page center on a white background) is a search bar. Underneath the search bar is a bar showing all the different Ecency downloads currently available.
Next in descending order is a small little pencil tab which takes you to the editor. Tap that when you're ready to start writing, or imaging, etc.
Last but not least is a blue tab with wallet symbol, notification bell, and your profile image. These are clickable and bring you to their respective pages.
Final Initial Impressions
As I said in the beginning, the simple black and white appearance of the site is brilliant. It makes everything so easy to distinguish.
That simplicity in design belies an enormous amount of effort put into the Ecency website. Each page you visit will reveal new functions and actions you can take.
As I dig deeper into each of the Ecency pages, I'll post about them if anything pops out as noteworthy. In the meantime, I highly suggest you get over here and start poking around the website.
It took my blog feed not loading on the Esteem App to force me to come over and I'm glad it did. This first post went seamlessly and all from my Galaxy S10.
