In a Sufi gathering I had been invited to by a friend two years ago. One of the attendees has been explaining a quote from an ancient book by a prominent Sufi scholar, when he said, “it means letting go of even letting go”.
When I reflected upon this quote I found it is one of the most precious pearls of wisdom. It creates awareness not cling to detachment as a concept, a task, or a norm that clouds the spiritual experience. It also implies that when moving down the path at some point we have to drop letting go so there is only pure consciousness.
Concepts still important to exchange experiences, to learn about spiritual paths, to raise awareness, to let us know that there is more to life than the physical experience. But, eventually, real experience lies beyond them.
