Dictating is one of learning process that applied in the class room, in the school of engineering, lecturers are hard to deliver the lecture that make all student understand about the material that deliver, many simulation software is developing by the third party to ease all the student in gaining the knowledge. Me and my research group developed the simulation software using java programming software in designing the interesting simulation in fiber optic subject especially in FTTH (fiber to the home) connection.
Dictating adalah salah satu proses pembelajaran yang diterapkan di kelas, di sekolah dosen teknik sulit untuk menyampaikan ceramah yang membuat semua siswa mengerti tentang materi yang disampaikan, banyak perangkat lunak simulasi dikembangkan oleh pihak ketiga untuk memudahkan semua siswa dalam mendapatkan pengetahuan, Saya dan kelompok riset saya mengembangkan perangkat lunak simulasi menggunakan perangkat lunak pemrograman Java dalam merancang simulasi menarik di bidang optik serat optik, terutama pada koneksi FTTH (optik ke rumah).
Actually the analysis output of the FTTH or another parameter regarding fiber optic telecommunication can be analyses using sophisticated software named optisys (optical system), this software able to analyse the noise output of the design network in fiber optic system. the system design to be able to simulate the realistic system desgn by the engineer in the field. The problem that faced by student while running this software is they don’t know how the process that occurred within the optical component, so the student is didn’t get deep understanding regarding the flow process occurred within the design network.
Sebenarnya hasil analisis FTTH atau parameter lain mengenai telekomunikasi serat optik dapat dianalisis dengan menggunakan perangkat lunak canggih bernama optisys (sistem optik), perangkat lunak ini dapat menganalisis keluaran noise dari jaringan perancangan dalam sistem serat optik. Perancangan sistem untuk dapat mensimulasikan perancangan sistem yang realistis oleh insinyur di lapangan. Masalah yang dihadapi siswa saat menjalankan software ini adalah mereka tidak tahu bagaimana proses yang terjadi di dalam komponen optik, sehingga siswa tidak mendapatkan pemahaman mendalam mengenai proses flow yang terjadi dalam disain jaringan.
To answer the problem that faced by student, simulation software base on java programing software is designed for only internal use, the student that enrol in the optical subject is gives this simulation base on simple game with the optical component equip is design in the attractive component and the flow process that’s occurred within the network set up.
Untuk menjawab permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh siswa, perangkat lunak simulasi berbasis perangkat lunak Javaprograming dirancang hanya untuk penggunaan internal, siswa yang mendaftar di mata pelajaran optik ini diberi dasar simulasi permainan sederhana dengan komponen optik yang diperlengkapi dirancang pada komponen yang menarik dan proses aliran yang terjadi dalam setup jaringan.
FTTH simulation base on java Programming software
This fiber optic simulation was created using Java Eclipse Software. This software was chosen due to its advantage, it can operate on any operating system. The picture below is the start page of the simulation software, the display is colourful this is to avoid of student feel boring during the simulation learning. This simulation is design resemble like a simple box game.
Simulasi serat optik ini dibuat dengan menggunakan Java Eclipse Software. Perangkat lunak ini dipilih karena keunggulannya, dapat beroperasi pada sistem operasi manapun. Gambar di bawah ini adalah halaman awal perangkat lunak simulasi, tampilan berwarna-warni ini untuk menghindari siswa merasa bosan selama belajar simulasi. Simulasi ini menyerupai desain seperti permainan kotak sederhana.
To run the simulation, it is just simple way, the student only needs to click the component in the bottom of the display software monitor, the student allows to test the simulation base on their knowledge of the function of every optical component on the list. By clicking and dragging the component will appear on the display monitor.
Untuk menjalankan simulasi, hanya dengan cara yang sederhana, siswa hanya perlu mengklik komponen di bagian bawah monitor perangkat lunak display, siswa tersebut memungkinkan untuk menguji basis simulasi berdasarkan pengetahuan mereka tentang fungsi setiap komponen optik pada daftar. Dengan mengklik dan menyeret komponen akan muncul di layar monitor.
This simulation is designed based on the work principle of the FTTH (fiber to the home) network, the student need to understand the work principle and the component characteristic to run the simulation, the component need to connect to another component by clicking and connecting the line.
Simulasi ini dirancang berdasarkan prinsip kerja jaringan FTTH (serat ke rumah), siswa perlu memahami prinsip kerja dan karakteristik komponen untuk menjalankan simulasi, komponen tersebut perlu terhubung ke komponen lain dengan mengklik dan menghubungkan garis.
This is the flow process that occurred in the simulation of FTTH simulation, to run the simulation is by clicking the start button and the process will show how the signal and the laser flow into the modulator and multiplexed to the fiber optic with 20 km distance.
Inilah proses flow yang terjadi pada simulasi simulasi FTTH, untuk menjalankan simulasi yaitu dengan mengklik tombol start dan proses akan menunjukkan bagaimana sinyal dan laser mengalir ke modulator dan multiplexing ke fiber optic dengan jarak 20km.
Gambar di bawah ini menunjukkan hasil akhir dari simulasi kerja ini, melalui simulasi ini siswa mendorong pemahaman pokok kerja dan proses yang terjadi dalam jaringan, sehingga subjek FTTH dapat dengan mudah disampaikan kepada siswa.
Conclusion
Creating media learning is one way of encouraging the student to have deep understanding about the lecture and the course, this simulation is being tested and applied to the student University of Malaysia, by our team. This team is consist of four person, Professor Norhana arsad, Mastang Tanra, M.Sc, Sabiran, M,Sc and me Faizar, M,Sc. During the simulation we also share the questioner for student to know how was their feeling about this software simulation the result have been publish to the international journal. As a lecture I also implemented this software in my class to give deep understanding regarding fiber optic network to my student at Polytechnic State of Lhokseumawe.
Membuat media pembelajaran merupakan salah satu cara untuk mendorong siswa untuk memiliki pemahaman mendalam tentang kuliah dan kursus, simulasi ini sedang diuji dan diterapkan pada mahasiswa Universitas Malaysia, oleh tim kami. Tim ini terdiri dari empat orang, arsir Profesor Norhana, Mastang Tanra, M.Sc, Sabira, M, Sc dan saya Faizar, M, Sc. Selama simulasi kami juga membagikan kuesioner kepada siswa untuk mengetahui bagaimana perasaan mereka tentang simulasi perangkat lunak ini hasilnya telah dipublikasikan ke jurnal internasional. Sebagai ceramah, saya juga menerapkan perangkat lunak ini di kelas saya untuk memberikan pemahaman mendalam tentang jaringan serat optik kepada murid saya di Politeknik Negeri Lhokseumawe.
