Students become puzzled when they fail to solve a math problem. Though I have scored good percentage in math while studying in school, today I failed to solve a math problem asked by my nephew. Tomorrow he is going to sit for mock test and his first test is math.
I would like to share the problem here:
Show that: Sin520 + cot380 / sin380 + cos520 = tan520
Can anyone solve this problem? I spent 2 or 3 hours but couldn’t solve it. However, if I replace cot380 with cos380, the problem can easily be solved. I am showing you:

L.H.S. Sin52 + cos38 / sin38 + cos52
= Sin52 + cos(90 – 52) / sin(90-52) + cos52
= Sin52 + sin52 / cos52 + cos52
= 2sin52 / 2cos52
= sin52 / cos52
= tan52

= sin52 / cos52
= 2sin52 / 2cos52
= sin52 + sin52 / cos52 + cos52
= sin52 + sin(90 – 38) / cos(90 – 38) + cos52

I tried to solve the actual problem which includes cot380 but I couldn’t. Finally I came to this conclusion that there may be some printing mistake which printed cot380 instead of cos380. However, I am not sure about it. Only expert can tell about it.
How many of you actually take interest in math subject? I actually like this subject because it can offer you full marks if you solve it correctly. Otherwise, you get zero for wrong calculation. Math needs practice. Until you practice hard, you can’t be an expert in this subject. Please share in the comment, if you have solved the above problem.
