For this discussion, we were instructed to watch the film “The Founder” and analyze how entrepreneurship is displayed. The Founder is based on a true story of a man named Ray Kroc who is the main guy that turned McDonald’s into what it is now. Ray wasn't the founder of McDonald’s, but he was the one who turned McDonald’s into a franchise. Before he turned McDonald’s into a franchise, Ray was a traveling sales-man selling different types of product. At the beginning of the film, Ray attempts to sell a milkshake machine that he claims is the best and fastest milkshake machine out on the market. At first Ray doesn't have much success selling the machine, but then he eventually gets an order from McDonald’s to sell them eight milkshake machines to their restaurant in San Bernardino.Ray goes to California to check out the restaurant McDonald’s and he is in awe of the company. Ray believes that this fast-food company is a perfect business that needs to be all over the countries, so he makes a deal with the owner of McDonald’s and they decide to franchise the business.
The definition of a good entrepreneur is someone who can see an opportunity wherever they are and that is exactly what Ray Kroc did. He found an opportunity in the fast-food industry that is not like any other: faster and cheaper food. Another opportunity he found one day was when he met Harry J Sonneborn at the bank one day who was an American businessman. Harry was the one who gave Ray the idea of buying the land of every McDonalds and then leasing that land back to the franchise. After that Ray eventually became the first president and chief executive of McDonald’s corporation. Being an entrepreneur like Ray, his only focus is to franchise McDonald’s and expand the chain while also making it the most successful fast-food restaurant. As a franchiser Ray uses the marketing concept to help expand the
An important characteristic that was shown in the film was being a leader. Ray did a good job of that, in order to be an entrepreneur you need to be a leader or hold some leadership skills. Ray was definitely a leader in this business and is the main reason why McDonald’s became successful. He also was a leader because Ray saw a want in the industry so he took the risk and became a franchisor in order to grow the company. This movie was interesting because it displays such a good view of entrepreneurship and how companies handle competitors.
The founder, Ray Kroc would be the entrepreneur in this film that established the relationship with society. Society played a huge part in what made McDonald’s how it is today. In the movie the people at this time had never seen a restaurant like this. It was the most convenient, cheap and quick way to grab food during this time period, so there was not any place like this. It brought lots of value to the customers and most importantly the customers felt welcomed. McDonald’s and society still interact directly with customers everyday to meet the customers needs and wants. Still to this day McDonald’s does a great job with including society to help their company to continue to succeed.
