I am Mayank , currently in my final year of graduation from MNNIT Allahabad, India in Information Technology.
This is a video of my experiment with Raspberry Pi in making a room automation system. This is an old video and this project was done by me and my friend Shubham when we were at beginning of 3rd year of our graduation.
In this video we control some of our room equipments using some hardware and a web server hosted on Raspberry pi.
Those who don't know about Raspberry Pi here is a simple description. Raspberry Pi is a credit card sized computer that was originally created to teach basic programming and hardware knowledge to pre-university students. But due to its small size it became popular in robotics and hardware enthusiasts. It is extremely cheap to purchase. Raspberry Pi even comes with USB, Wi-fi, Ethernet and Bluetooth support built in.
Pi has GPIO pins (General Purpose Input Output) to read from sensors and other electronic components. Raspberry Pi does not have a hard disk to store its OS(operating system) and other data. Pi uses SD card as flash memory to install and use its OS. Pi supports high level programming language like Python.

Here's the real deal :
Raspberry Pi does not come with a monitor or screen. We can easily connect Pi to a monitor or a TV screen using a HDMI or VGA cable. I did not have access to a television screen and I did not purchase a seperate monitor for my project so I used my laptop to connect with Raspberry Pi using SSH ( remote connection ).
