Launched in 1954, Old Monk a favourite among all generations, was at a time the largest selling dark rum in the world, according to a TOI report.
Kapil Mohan, the founder of Old Monk rum, passed away on Saturday, according to reports. The chairperson and managing director of the Mohan Meakin brewery was 88.
Mohan, who had been ill for sometime, suffered a cardiac arrest at his residence in Ghaziabad.
The man behind India's iconic dark rum had been awarded the Padma Shri in 2010.
