This clock is mod 40, therefore the number 50 is never reached. If the time is 36:39, the next minute is 01:00, just as a normal base 60 clock, 12:59 becomes 1:00. On a base 40 clock we never have 1:40, it will be 2:00. The minute hand ticks 9 degrees per second rather than 6 degrees. The hour hand spins 4 times per day rather than 2.
