I watched all of the episodes of the first season of Netflix's series Sense 8. For those who won't read any further, I recommend it.
The premise? Without going into detail, certain humans are evolving to the next level. What is this level? They are somehow connected to eight other people and can sense their feelings and see what is happening in one anothers' lives even though they all live in different parts of the world.
Where is the conflict? There is some sort of biotech company that is connected to the government that either wants to control this phenomenon or destroy the people to whom it is happening.
Why did I like it? Hmm, a lot of reasons. I guess one of the biggest ones is that it gets the viewer very emotionally involved in these people's lives. Much of the time the viewer will be rooting for the underdog who is struggling against a power structure that seems impossible to escape from or conquer. But this series was made by the Wachowski Brothers, so what would you expect? These brothers are the creators of the Matrix trilogy in case you were unaware.
I just googled the Wachowskis and discovered that they are not technically brothers anymore as Laurence Wachowski is now Lana Wachowski, so I guess you would now call them the Wachowski siblings. One of the eight main characters in Sense 8 is a man who has transitioned into a woman.
There is also a strong theme in many of the characters' plot lines of the need to make the choice to do the right thing. Oftentimes they are helped to "do the right thing" in their impossible circumstances by the skills and support offered by the other seven members of their "cluster".
Anyway, I haven't watched a series that has gotten me this emotionally involved in a while, so if you like that kind of thing you might want to watch it.
You may not find yourself riveted by the first episode, but watch a few more and you may change your mind. It took me a few episodes to really get into this series.
However, this series is rather violent and there are a lot of graphic sex scenes so if you are upset or offended by those kind of things you should avoid this series.
