Some times I don’t feel motivated to create anything.
At those times, I usually just go out and do something I truly love and enjoy, rather than force myself to be creative.
One such activity is photography - particularly with an obscure vintage camera. The Mamiya 135 EE wasn’t obscure in it’s day, but being a film rangefinder camera, it is obscure now by default.
My copy of the camera needed some cleaning. The viewfinder was cloudy, the lens seemed a little dull and I wasn’t too sure about the light meter.
The way it works also forces a fixed aperture-speed pair, so the photographer’s control is limited.
I basically popped in some cheap film and went out shooting flowers and wildlife in the park. It was mostly guesswork, based on instinct and experience using these old cameras.
About a third of the photos didn’t come out at all - blank either because of a technical issue or user error.
Overall the results where mediocre but that’s fine. The experience itself was what I was after - the process of creating, rather than the creation itself.
Peace and Love ✌🏿
