Apparently, the unique habit was done as a form of communication between the ants to each other. Ants send chemical signals to their friends' nests by moving saliva.

Ant species such as fire ants or black ants do not carry the disease, but the problem is that you do not know their path to eating out and seeing them lined up in your closet is not what you want to see.
