Today we find ourselfs back in Oncology. It is a scheduled appointment and on I told you about four weeks ago. We will have blood test and the bone strengthening IV supplement. It should all take about an hour.
I am however worried about the blood test. What will it show ? Or maybe it will show nothing at all.
** WHY DON’T YOU IRON A FOUR LEAF CLOVER ?**
BECAUSE YOU DON’T WANT TO PRESS YOUR LUCK
Two weeks from now on the 26th we will meet again with the oncologist. Best guess on what the cancer is doing. Modern Medicine . We should also be scheduling a CT scan for confirmation along with another oncologist appointment. This puts us at day 56 of 90 since chemo. An important time, if you think Moore attention is being place on tests you would be right. This is the time that they expect the cancer to show its evil head. Days 60 through 90 are or is the critical time. We are at the 7 month with cancer timeframe. The 90 days figure is from the last chemo treatment. And cannot have more chemo before the 90 days is up. That is why we are trying to get past the 90 days.
Small Cell Lung Cancer - The overall 5-year survival rate for small cell lung cancer ( extensive stage) is only about 1 percent. Without treatment, the average life expectancy for extensive disease is 2 to 4 months, and with treatment is 6 to 12 months.
Thats 1 person out of a hundred. I have five months to go to reach the 1 year. If you can get past the 1 year mark the odds go up drastically that you will make the 5 year mark. The amount of people who don’t make the one year mark is way above 90%. On the bright side I was told that I would not make it 4-6 months, and yet here I am. Here we are !!!
This might sound like gloom and doom. But to me its not. I see so many positive things here.
Zometa is administered under physician supervision. The maximum recommended dose of Zometa in hypercalcemia of malignancy or in patients with multiple myeloma and metastatic bone lesions from solid tumors
Zometa is used to treat high blood levels of calcium caused by cancer (also called hypercalcemia of malignancy). Zometa also treats multiple myeloma (a type of bone marrow cancer) or bone cancer that has spread from elsewhere in the body.
I get this infusion every month and have been for the last 6 months.
I am doing good and find so many positive things. The nurses here have not seen me in a month and everyone of them want to date me. No shit. I look so good HEHE. So I got that going for me.
All seriousness, I get to see people with cancer that is not as bad as mine and doing worse then me. I see all the worst of this disease and what it does from one end to the other. And I am doing good. So far anyway. I am under no illusion of what can happen or what has happened. I don’t know wether its my attitude, Strenth, youth or any combination of things. All I know is that I will not lay down and quit.
