The item system might seem complex on a first glance, but don't get discouraged. It should be quite easy to understand, especially for anybody who has played MMORPGs such as World of Warcraft before. It should also be quite enjoyable to collect the items and even theorycraft optimal setups. And remember, all of the items are on the blockchain, meaning, you own them as NFTs.
Primary Stats
There are 3 primary stats. You can think of them as a nod to rock-scissors-paper:
- Strength
- Agility
- Intelligence
Armor Types
In addition there are 3 different armor types, associated to these stats:
- Armor (Strength - Heavy Armor)
- Protector (Agility - Light Armor)
- Garment (Intelligence - Cloth)
Weapon types
Plus multiple weapon types, also associated to these stats:
- Two-Hand Sword (Strength)
- One-Hand Sword (Strength)
- Two-Hand Axe (Strength)
- One-Hand Axe (Strength)
- Two-Hand Mace (Strength)
- Two-Hand Bow (Agility)
- Two-Hand Crossbow (Agility)
- One-Hand Throwing (Agility)
- Two-Hand Polearm (Agility)
- One-Hand Dagger (Agility)
- One-Hand Polearm (Intelligence)
- Two-Hand Staff (Intelligence)
- One-Hand Staff (Intelligence)
- One-Hand Mace (Intelligence)
- Two-Hand Runeblade (Intelligence)
Depending on the weapon the hero wears, a different stat is chosen as it's main stat. The damage is only increased by this stat and also influences the damage against a specific armor style.
- Strength
- Stronger against Protector
- Weaker against Armor
- Agility
- Stronger against Garment
- Weaker against Protector
- Intelligence
- Stronger against Armor
- Weaker against Garment
Native Stats
Weapons and armor pieces have guaranteed stats:
- Weapon: Min Damage, Max Damage, Crit Chance
- Weapon (Shield): Block Chance, Defense
- Armor: Defense
Main Stats
Additionally, there are five generic main stats, which include the primary stats: Strength, Agility, Intelligence, Stamina and Luck.
Each of these can appear on an item. Depending on the item’s rarity, the minimum and maximum number of stats change. For example, a common item has a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 2 stats.
This means a common item might have just Stamina, just Luck, or even two different stats. As rarity increases, the number of stats available increases as well, up to four on legendary items. For example, an uncommon item has a minimum of 2 stats, meaning it will always have more stats than a common one.
Rarity | Min Main Stats | Max Main Stats | Min Extra Stats | Max Extra Stats |
---|---|---|---|---|
Common | 1 | 2 | 0 | 0 |
Uncommon | 2 | 3 | 1 | 1 |
Rare | 2 | 3 | 1 | 2 |
Epic | 3 | 3 | 2 | 3 |
Legendary | 3 | 3 | 2 | 4 |
Extra Stats
In addition to the main stats, there are also extra stats, such as Crit Damage and Bonus Damage. Extra stats only appear on uncommon or higher rarities. They follow a similar system: on uncommon, there is a minimum of 1 extra stat and a maximum of 2, going up to 4 on legendary items.
Slot Multiplier
Each stat has a base value. For example, a common item’s base value for Stamina is 1. This base value is also affected by a multiplier based on the item slot. For example, a chest item might have a multiplier of 1, while a wrist item might have 0.7. So if the base value is 1, a chest item will have 1 Stamina, and a wrist item will have 0.7 Stamina.
Bonus Percentage
The final value also depends on a bonus percentage. If you get 0% bonus, you get the base value. If you get 100% bonus, the value doubles. For example, with a base of 1 and 100% bonus, you get 2. The possible bonus percentages are 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100%. The higher the bonus, the rarer it is to get, with 100% being extremely rare. The goal is to get items with the right stats and the highest possible bonuses.
Practical Example
Not every item will have the right combination or maximum stats.
For example, if you are building a hero focused on Strength, the most important stats are Strength, Stamina, and Luck. Strength increases your damage (but only if your weapon scales with Strength, determined by STR, AGI or INT on the weapon), Stamina boosts your health, and Luck improves your rewards. Ideally, you want all three stats on one item, but this is realistically only possible from uncommon rarity or higher, since common items can have two stats at most.
How these stats influence the battle might change over time, so it's best to compare different items by equipping/unequipping them from a hero and seeing how stats like damage, health, crit chance, etc. change.
