This article is about how everything is a remix.
Gerard Cox
many people think that this is the original.
Then there are MANY versions:
Rudi Carell
This is the actual track that lead me to write this post (Thanks @pundito, hehe)
Just to name a few...
And back in the day there where groups like Farce Majeure
These guys did a winter parody, but the internet forgot about it.
O and btw, the cause of all this is
Steve Goodman.
Now it finally gets interesting. If copyright law in the 70's had worked as the music industry wants to make us believe they should work today. Well then most of the versions you can find on the internet today would not even be allowed to exist. And if this copyright is so damn important then why is Google allowed to earn ad money on ALL of these version while NONE of the artists who are performing the song (DOING THE ACTUAL WORK) get ANY money from googleytube, while the copyright holders keep cashing in on work they never do?
If copyright would be applied to Tomatosoup then who would own that copyright? And we would be forced to eat the same version of that soup worldwide, even if some ingredients are not available, or if your personal taste does require a paprika to make it taste better.
Does copyright still make sense in 2018?
Or do we need more freedom to express ourselves?
Sing along with me:
laaa lalaaaa la la la la la laaaaaalalaaaaa
Now you did it, you broke the law. You performed it in your style without the permission of the copyright holder. Go to jail for a few years. And never sing again.
What a wonderful world - Louis Armstrong.
