Moon Garden is a track released a couple of months ago by Midori Hirano, a composer and producer from Kyoto, Japan, who's now based in Berlin. It's released under her working name of MimiCof, in which she explores rhythms and experimental musical ideas through melodic shapes and harmonies.
It's a wonderful blend of heartbeat-like kick drums, delayed synth lines, lush synthesiser pads adding a brooding ambience, and a distorted guitar-like melody drifting over the top, gelling everything else together...
Besides producing her own works, she has composed music for films, video installations and dance performances. The films that have commissioned works by Midori have been screened at Berlin International Film Festival, Oberhausen International Short Film Festival, Krakow Film Festival and HongKong International Film Festival, amongst others.
