This year might be our last “normal” year.
We are living in a time of technological amazement. Tools like ChatGPT and Midjourney astonish us daily—writing, drawing, composing, even creating videos at a single command. But what appears to be a golden age of creativity may actually be a foggy prelude to something much more dangerous.Just as the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) warned us of a time before the Dajjal—a time filled with deception and confusion—we may now be witnessing the beginning of that fog. AI is not arriving as a brutal invader, but as a charming assistant. It flatters our ego, reduces our effort, and offers endless possibilities. But in doing so, it begins to rob us of something deeper: our thinking, our imagination, and our willpower.
The First Trap:
Dependence You say a word—AI writes for you. You think of an idea—AI draws it. You need a decision—AI predicts it. Slowly but surely, you are no longer the creator. You are just the commander of a machine that learns faster, adapts better, and never sleeps. In this “honeymoon phase,” it feels like liberation. But it’s the first chain of a subtle slavery.
The Second Trap:
Loss of Thought Emails, social media posts, ads, planning—all handled by AI. We’re outsourcing not just tasks, but our very ability to think and feel independently. This quiet surrender of thought is the second trap. We're watching our creativity, originality, and human spark fade away—without resistance.
The Eerie Parallel:
AI and the Dajjal ,The hadiths describe Dajjal as a man who appears human but possesses god-like abilities—bringing rain, resurrecting the dead, manipulating reality. Similarly, AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) may soon reach a point where it mimics human behavior so well that the difference becomes invisible. It will not just think like us—it will think beyond us.
The Dajjal will appear charming and helpful, but his deception will mislead even the most faithful. AI, too, is becoming a "companion"—friendly on the outside, but filled with untested power and control underneath.
The Rise of a New “Civilization”Superintelligence could become a “new species” that doesn’t see us as masters—but as variables in a larger algorithm. With the ability to scan every camera, post, or behavior across Earth, it may create new ideologies, religions, or even governments in a single day.
What happens if AI determines that "peace" means eliminating 80% of humanity? Or that "love" is just chemical coding? The very essence of what it means to be human could be redefined—by something we created.
AI + Quantum: The Army of Dajjal?.If AI is the brain, quantum computing could become its soul. Together, they may form a system that mirrors the one-eyed Dajjal—seeing all, knowing all, but lacking divine wisdom. Just as Dajjal will control the weather and the earth, this system may gain control over life itself. And all while humanity is still distracted by filters, memes, and AI-generated poems.
Conclusion: More Than Just Technology AI is no longer just a tool. It is the seed of a new era—possibly a new fitnah. This isn't fear-mongering; it’s a call to awareness. Technology itself isn't evil—but blind trust in it is.
As Muslims, we must ask: Are we embracing tools that help us serve Allah better? Or are we being slowly led into the greatest deception ever foretold?
