Brief historical review
The banana was born in the humid and warm valleys of the peninsula of Malaysia. More than 4,000 years ago, travelers took the banana to Africa and later, the Arabs took it to India and the Middle East. The Portuguese planted it in the Canary Islands and finally, accompanied the crew of Admiral Christopher Columbus and remained a Creole in our lands2 .
Christopher Columbus brought him to America on his second voyage and is one of the oldest fruits in the history of man. The banana is an annual plant, the root is a rhizome and the stem short, soft and hollow. From the latter come pseudostems formed by pods. The leaves are long and erect; the male flowers and their deciduous bracts. The fruits are born in bunches, are edible, sweet taste and many varieties.
