Though it was reluctantly, he followed Wraithvine and Pondermoore, he convinced his mother and the rest of his family to remain behind to care for their farm, and they decided to follow the map provided, and to turn over the criminal in the cage to the proper authorities. In the meantime, he was trying to find a way to keep his bell from knocking Wraithvine to the ground like that.

Pondermoore was leading the horse, which was pulling the cart, because Amatu was twiddling with his bell again. Of the three of them, only one had proficiency with vehicles. It was the one who would go down like a sack of spuds if the bell 'rang'. Pondermoore couldn't hear anything, but any magic user in a wide radius certainly could.
For Wraithvine, it was debilitating. Little Vee Antheson, part Dragon by adoption, was a little better off. She could cover her ears and shriek back at the noise. Alas, her countermeasure only effected her.
So far, they had tried stopping Wraithvine's pointy ears, blocking line of sight between hir and the bell, and some Resistance charms. None of them were a great success.
"If I put myself between you and the bell..." Amatu turned himself so that Wraithvine was behind him, and gave the bell a weak shake.
"AIE!" Wraithvine flinched. "Ow. That's painful. On the plus side, still conscious. This is fine. This is workable. So long as I'm not working any concentration spells, you could use that bell as an opening volley in any conflict."
"It's not a great weapon if it also harms your allies," sighed Amatu. "I wonder if the number of bodies is a factor? Or if it just has to be something that counts as a creature?"
"Can we experiment at camp? Please?" Wraithvine accepted the reins from Pondermoore. "I would like to get some of these calls to action done with so all this destiny is no longer so insistent."
Pondermoore clambered up onto the cart. "Pondermoore thinking destiny underway."
"Eh... sort of. Heroes foretold have something of a schedule and prophecy is a harsh mistress. Such a pity Miss Vee's 'Kiss Better' doesn't work on me. It might have solved a lot of problems."
"Maybe," said Pondermoore, "solving bell is part of destiny."
"Oh, I am going to hate this," muttered Wraithvine.
