An emergency ship lands on a pax humanis sanctuary planet. The medics beg for emergency blood donations. The people there are all too eager to roll up their sleeves. -- Anon Guest
They say that you have to be desperate to crash-land on a Pax Humanis sanctuary. It is, after all, a world full of killers. For interesting values of 'full'.
Most of the planet is wilderness. Empty of intelligent life.
The Fittleton Driver was desperate. They tried for a soft landing, but ended up with a "cheese grater[1]" landing instead. The pilots did their best to save as many lives as possible. Including their own.
They... almost succeeded.
On a planet full of predators, one might expect so many lives to be lost. But this was a planet full of predators who knew they were predators. Thusly, they could both restrain themselves and get help.
There are fully-equipped emergency services and amenities on every Pax Humanis Sanctuary. The members know what to do.
They rushed to help.
So many members of Pax Humanis had survival kits. They believed in preparation, and were prepared with a degree of paranoia that only Pax Humanis was capable of.
Only those who perished in the crash were the fatalities, that day. Patients rushed to the emergency care centres needed blood.
Amazingly, the Pax Humanis members were eager to donate.
"We like blood," said one in the donation chair, staring in fascination at their own fluids. "We like to see it."
The survivors agreed that it was the creepiest rescue in known history.
[1] The land is the grater. The ship is the cheese. Survivors are found via, and in, the immense trail of wreckage.
