I cannot move now, I'm so cold. I know I could touch their minds, but it may cause them pain. But I need help. Is it right for me to give them a small amount of pain when I need to beg their aid? They seem to be trying to help already, asking questions... alright. My saviors, forgive me, but I need to answer those questions, and beg to be able to move. -- Anon Guest
They dug me out of the avalanche and took me into their houses. They didn't know. They couldn't know. They'd never seen the likes of me before. I am cold, and meant to be cold.
They... are far too hot. Beings of warmth or fire or... I can sense them. Not fire. Their origins lie in the Plane of Torment, so close to the Plane of Fire. I... am not quite the opposite. My origin is in the Plane of Ice. They hurt me, in trying to help.
I could reach them, but it may hurt them. I must defend myself all the same. Should I? Or should I let myself perish because that avalanche was my stupid mistake in the first place?
I cannot stand it. I cannot move, this help has made me so weak.
Survival is a strong instinct.
I sense the nearest one. The one trying to reach me with their mind. So close.
Heat hurts! Get me cold! Help me move!
I can feel their pain, but they obey. I cannot understand their harsh words, but I feel... movement. They dump me wholesale into an icemelt stream and it is enough of a balm. I can begin to feel stronger.
They are careful, henceforth. Feeding me cold things. Medicines chilled in the same gelid water. Soups turned nearly to ice. Fruit spiked with hoarfrost.
Finally, I can talk with my own voice. See them with my own eyes.
Hellkin. A hidden village nestled in a space where few would dare to tread. My helper, wrapped up in furs and thick gloves, helping me still.
She is a being of fire. Warm hues of red and orange. Glimmers of flame in her shining eyes. Smoke or steam comes from her mouth and nostrils when she speaks. And when she has her gloves off to help me eat, her claws and fingers look charred.
She is of fire. I am of ice.
Is it wrong that I am falling in love?
