Ze had made a camp inside the abandoned house. A small fire and a kettle, and some special tea set to brewing.
"There's people suffering," pleaded Bibrid.
"There is time enough for tea," said Wraithvine. "You're dangerously close to panicking yourself into a conundrum, and this will help." Ze turned to face the door. "And so will she."
Bibrid hadn't noticed the cat before this moment. Large, fluffy, and apparently a power of her own, she purred up to him and immediately made herself comfortable on his lap.
Or rather, over his lap. And most of him.
Currently shaped like a Gnome, he almost drowned in the fur. Bibrid had to part it just to see the eternal Wizard. Then the beast started to really purr.
Bibrid almost sprawled across the cat and fell asleep right there.
The tea, in a Gnome-sized cup, was something made to alleviate stress in Dragons.
"You knew," said Bibrid. "You knew what I was."
"Immortals tend to pull on the world in various ways," said Wraithvine. "And the firstborn of the Great Silver Dragon has a unique way of doing so."
The tea was very efficacious. Or Wraithvine's relaxed demeanor in combination with the cat had significantly helped. "Can other people just... tell? Is that why I've had so much trouble?"
"No, I suspect it's how effective your healing is. Including the fact that your particular method is... temporal reversal."
Bibrid hadn't slept since he left that dungeon. The cat was marvelously soporific. Yet that particular revelation kept him conscious. "Oh, so... they were trying to stay young as well."
"The lure is irresistable." Wraithvine had a kalimba, now, and ze plucked a melody older than history. "Sleep. I will make sure you do not come to harm."
For the first time in an eon, Bibrid did as he was told.
