You're never too old to learn. And despite their ages, even ancient legends make mistakes. These two get quite the tongue lashing about watching where they're going as, in a moment of distraction, they nearly walk into an area where rock slides are being deliberately triggered to stabilize the hillside. They almost got buried. -- Lessons
Even though he looked like a Gnome, Bibrid was still a Dragon, and retained the compulsion to collect bright, shiny objects. That was what started it, and could well have finished them. Wraithvine missed catching Bibrid's collar, and unthinkingly raced to catch him.
It could have gone very badly for them, if it hadn't been for some benevolent intervention.
The vines trapped their feet first, then lifted them wholesale off the slope. They also wrapped around both Wraithvine and Bibrid's mouths. It was the gentleness in which they did so that made Wraithvine relax in their grip. If their captor meant them harm, then this trap would be doing a lot more damage.
Bibrid struggled a little, but eventually conquered his instincts and forced himself to relax. All the way to the peeved Wudzgaad on much surer footing.
"All right," she growled. "Which direction did you two get here from? I need to re-enforce my wards. This whole slope could come down on anything that sets foot on it." There was a clear undertone of you idiots to her speech.
"Why not set it off?" asked Bibrid, looking wistfully towards the area in which the shine had caught his attention.
"Just when it's nearly set up, some band of Adventurers comes through and nearly kill their fool selves," said the Wudzgaad with a meaningful glare. "You're more powerful than the usual numpties. Care to assist instead of inhibiting?"
"We should make amends," said Wraithvine.
"Do I get the sparkly?" said Bibrid.
His only answer was a withering glare from both of them.
