Four children aged between 9 and 14 were among those killed in the fire. Apparently a mother and child were found huddled together on the floor with her arms around her child, burnt to death.
The blaze in Siem Reap started around 1.30am back on December the 8, 2012. The Phnom Penh and Bangkok posts both said 8 people had died, however a security guard who had fallen asleep was also found dead the following day.
My wife and I did what we could to help, including assisting with the removal of two survivors from the blaze... One of which died on the way to hospital.
We saw some pretty horrific things that night which left me with nightmares for months after. Cooked flesh on living bodies and skin literally dropping of bodies.
