Good evening, Steemians!
Today, the county finally sent out semis to my neighborhood to collect the tree scraps from Hurricane Irma from last month. They sent out semis with bulldozers and claw machine looking things.
I've been waiting a long time to burn a lot of the fallen tree branches from the hurricane, and one of my neighbors was doing it today on a HUGE scale, so I figured maybe my other neighbors wouldn't mind me burning while he was burning, as to "get it out of the way at the same time."
Building and making fires is pretty cool, and a good skill to know if you ever find yourself a castaway on an island.
All of those branches formed in a huge ugly pile were becoming an eyesore, so I did what I had to do (don't take my advice): I soaked some old shirts and socks in gasoline and then got a small fire started. Then I used a bamboo pole to feed the soaked clothing into the middle of the fire enough to get the wood hot. Not the safest way to make a fire (it rained yesterday so other options weren't really on the table) but it got the job done.
Thanks for stopping by, Steemians!
