If you like taking photos and you like making money, you might as well combine the two interests. Easier said than done, of course, but Foap makes it simple to sell your pictures to brands as stock photography.
The free app connects smartphone photographers with brands like Bank of America and Nivea. Once you download the app and create a profile, you upload photos, then some tags and caption them. With any luck, you’ll sell a few. Photos sell for $5, but you can sell the same photo to different clients. You can also use Foap albums to curate photos from other users. They’ll get more exposure, and you’ll get a small commission if their photo sells from your album. You can see how it’s done in the video above.
Brands also post photography assignments that are up for grabs. From your sales tab, you can navigate to Missions, and you’ll see a list of brands and specific assignments like “Christmas recipes” (a Mission via Getty images). Anyone is welcome to post photos to the Mission and it’s up to the brand to pick winners. Payments range from $200 to $500 and you can also browse Winners to see what kind of photos have been picked.
You can read the full terms of service here, but selling your photos through Foap means you grant buyers a non-exclusive right use your picture without sourcing you as the photographer.
You’re probably not going to get rich using the app, but it’s kind of fun if you like taking pictures anyway.
