Having had a couple of days off work, I was in two minds whether to go over to the Peak District, the weather forecast had predicted rain and snow, but in the end, I thought, why not, I can always come home if needed.
So myself and my brother decided to get over there, which (traffic depending as have to go through part of Sheffield) should take about 45 mins to an hour, the weather was beautiful sun, all the way until we hit Hathersage, then things changed for the worse.
We got to Castleton, both hungry, so we parked up and bought a lovely bacon sarnie from the cafe at the side of the car park, I mentioned to my brother that I wanted to have a walk up Cave Dale, which is just out of Castleton's centre.
We headed up there, camera's still in our bags, waiting for the snow to stop, and stop it did, and changed to hail, then rain, then we had some lovely sun, for about 5 minutes lol.
I took a few shots, but made an amateur mistake and shot at a slow shutter speed, what a dumb ass, so anyhow, I managed to get a couple of shots, while I was looking at different perspectives, I saw this banking and thought it would make a great shot from up there, I then discoved my boots were no good in mud, and I just kept falling over, what made it worse was a 15ish feet drop, so had a bit of a panic on not to fall to my doom lol.
Some of the mud on my jeans, but it was on the other leg and all over my coat sleeves lol.
So as today goes, I'm kind of happy with the shots, far from my best, but still if you get even one good shot from a trip, then trip is worth it.
Next on the cards, some proper hiking boots lol.
