There is a case for free speech and there is also a case for knowing what will get you killed.
It doesn't mean Muslim fundamentalists were right to exact religious revenge (in their view) on cartoonists but there is also no point in being right and dead.
Or maybe there is if you want to make a point so badly.
Not for me though.
If you aren't thinking about the enemy, (and I don't mean Muslim terrorists soley) I mean anyone who will reign harm upon you because of your actions then you are too naïve. In particular people who won't target you unless you do something specific. And then you have to decide if you want to accept the risk of harm or take a safer route and live a long and healthy life with partner and family etc.
I support the right to speak freely even things that are immoral, false or I disagree with but it doesn't mean I would speak in the same way.
I used to think the terrorists were right to kill the cartoonists because they were just following their (twisted) ethics and the cartoonists were well aware that there were enough motivated Muslims that they always were putting themselves in harm's way.
