When I was in school I hated history. It was just a memorization of dates, circumstances and places, which I felt was useless, even though all of my teachers and grown-ups insisted it was important to know, and so it was mandatory. No one seemed to question if the “facts” were true or not, it was just assumed it was all so.
Once I began unschooling my children, I came across a book called Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History Textbook Got Wrong by James Loewen. That book was another puzzle piece of confirmation to me that historical “facts” are actually the perspectives of those who write the books, telling the story they want you to hear. I finally got a glimpse into what had intuitively guided me in my history aversion.
My knowledge of history is still very limited, but at least I’m not still using brain power to remember all those dates. places and circumstances I was required to learn that may or may not be true at all.
The awareness that things may not really be what we've learned all of these years inflamed more doubts about a lot of other things I had been told. I dug a lot deeper and was unfortunately astounded about what I found. Now, I’m meeting more and more people who are becoming aware of some of the alternative possibilities to the “truth” we were taught, and starting to question everything. It’s time to follow our intuitions, surpass our limited indoctrinated perspectives, and use our innate powers to create the reality we wish to live instead.

Let’s not believe by blind faith just because we have been told it is so,
but instead create anew the world WE wish to live in.
