Likely a throwback to my Punk days when I used to paint my face white with clown makeup, I’ve never liked colour on my skin; no blusher, no eye shadow, no lipstick and most certainly no sunburn
We Irish don’t tan, we burn, so I tend to stay out of the sun, and when I can’t avoid it, I dress up to my head and down to my toes.
I was in Acapulco last week, a temperate 30 degrees Celsius, and while others took to the quad bikes on the beach in bikinis, T-shirt and shorts, I wore a long-sleeved shirt, leggings, boots and a headscarf. I wish I had a photo for you, but I’ll go to my grave never having taken a selfie! I did get some funny looks, but no sunburn.
