His first name was Nate. He was a tall, handsome, handsome man, dark brown hair and dark eyes. One of the most beautiful things about Nate was that he had an amazing smile. He told me that he loved my smile just as much as I loved his. Nate brought some spring vegetables and flowers to my patio outside my front door, planted them and gave me a present. It was a ring box. He told me that he had found the ring in his late father's attic, that his father bought the ring for his late wife, my future mother-in-law. Nate told me he planned on proposing with it to me. It was so romantic that I couldn't wait for him to propose. I accepted right on the spot.
Since I had arrived in this town fourteen months ago, I was hoping that I would find someone to love. I met a few men, of course, but they were all either way too forward and immodest at times or they just didn't have the sort of attraction on me that Nate had. Nate was just right.
Nate would always leave little notes in my mailbox or on my car's windshield when we couldn't see each other. It was always so sweet. He left me notes about how much he loved me, how pretty he thought I was, how much he loved being around me, and how much he wanted to enjoy every minute with me. Of course, once I had read his notes, I thought that he 'loved' me, but I had no idea what love actually was. Nate explained to me that true love was when two people go through things together, through the ups and downs, good times and bad. Nate said it was quite funny, how he found out that he had wanted someone to be with when he was with me. He said that my father found out that he was married to someone else when he had me in bed with him once. Nate said he was incredibly embarrassed about that. I loved hearing about the things Nate told me about his life.
Anyway, I was more than excited when Nate proposed to me. I finally had the man I thought I always wanted in my life.
Two months into our marriage, I was making a cake at home when I got a call from Nate. He was at the grocery store and found a cute little bib that he figured that our soon-to-be baby would look so cute in. He asked if he could come home with it and if he could put it on me. Of course, I told him yes. I was so excited that we were going to be parents. Nate said that he couldn't wait for the baby to be born. He said that he would be so proud of his little boy or girl. He also said that he was thinking of any names we could choose. He was very eager about our baby. Not overly anxious, just happy that we were going to have one. I just loved how much Nate wanted our baby. He wasn't at all like most other men I had dated. Nate told me that he wanted our baby to be healthy and not named after somebody he knew. He wanted to choose its name from the Bible.
A few days later, I had a doctor's appointment. Afterward, I stayed home with some pain pills and got some dinner ready to eat. As I was eating dinner, I got a text message from Nate asking me to call him right away. When I talked to him, I couldn't understand what he was saying. He asked if I knew what was wrong with him. I was starting to feel a little sick, and everything sounded like he was speaking in a funny voice. He kept saying that his stomach hurt, but I thought that it was probably just a stomach ache from eating dinner just as usual. I told him to go to the hospital immediately. He told me that he couldn't probably even make it to the hospital in time for our baby. I told him that whatever he did, he had to go now. I was scared that something was really wrong with him. I didn't know what was wrong.
I was about to start getting really alarmed when Nate said that I should get my gun out. I didn't even think about it. Turned out, I was smarter than he was. He called me a few minutes later and said that he was on his way. I was so excited that he was coming home, that I was crying by the time he got home. He said that he had to go to the hospital to see what was wrong with him. I told him that his car was all bloody. I told him that I was so worried about him. I just didn't know what was going on. Nate was always so healthy. He said that he was okay. He called me a few hours later and said that they were doing some tests and that he would find out the next day.
The next day, Nate said that he had kidney cancer. It had spread to his stomach, his liver, and his lungs. He had no idea what happened. He said that he would have to go to chemotherapy treatments and a few more surgeries to remove more of the cancer. I was devastated. What would I do with a husband like Nate who had cancer? Nate said I shouldn't feel like that, that he would figure out a way to beat the cancer. He said that he wasn't going to leave me right now, especially after he asked me to marry him, and especially when we were going to have a little baby. He was so optimistic like the old times.
