Okay, after writing stories for days, my brain is a bit dry. I quit on writing fiction and stories today. However, I ain't going to quit freewrite nor Steemit so I am going to write my thoughts today, more like random thoughts for today.
So, I have started my students on a freewrite spree for their holiday break assignment. They are getting more and more enthusiastic about freewriting. What I do nowadays is I give them a prompt, and alternate it with a prompt from themselves. Today I let her write with "quit" as the prompt, so she is doing that now while I'm writing my freewrite.
When I saw the word "quit" today, a song comes to my mind, Quit Playing Games with My Heart by the so famous Backstreet Boys. Hahahaha. That's one hit song during my era when they were one of the really famous boy bands. Did anyone of you "hear" the song in your head when you know of the prompt?
Anyway, I guess sometimes, it is easier and more convenient to quit something rather than persevering on in difficult times to see a matter comes to full completion. "I quit!" is something we hear so rampantly whenever inconveniences or troubles arise. However, I heard this saying before that with the same energy we use to focus on the negativity to make us quit, why not we use that energy to persevere on? Imagine if our moms quit on us in their pregnancies which are long and sometimes really inconvenient, there won't be us. It is said that in the older generations they don't quit on marriages or throw them away but they believe in repairing. That's one valuable lesson we can learn from them, definitely.
Now, how about we quit thinking on quitting? If we don't let it be an option in our lives but focus on finding motivations to go on, maybe we can quit quitting. On the other hand, there are things we may need to quit on such as some habits or toxic relationships, some depressing or self pity thoughts etc. After all, our minds are powerful to decide. Though, for a thinking pattern to quit from our minds, it may take many many times of substituting it with a new pathway.
I am not immune to the temptation of quitting as well. I got to deliberately remind and switch my mode to looking at the ever-supplying grace of God. I am glad that even when we cannot take it and try to quit on ourselves, God doesn't quit on us no matter how devasted or disappointed He can be. His love never quits and it is everlasting. With us being made in His image, we have the capacity and ability to not quit as well!
Don't quit Steemit and quit thinking about how Steemit can give back to you but rather what you can give! You always have something to offer. Last but not least, I have to tell you who I learn not quitting from. It's my 3-year-old son who always tells me, "Try again, Mummy!" whenever I can't do something for him. He also tells himself out loud, "Try again, Levi." I am inspired by him, truly.
Oh yes, timer's up and my student is not quitting yet!

Freewrite is a prompt writing initiated by @mariannewest and @improv to write a free-flow post without correcting or editing. I checked out her post to really get what it is before I jumped on the bandwagon. Basically, there is no right or wrong, just let the mind and fingers do their work, to find our creative self and let it come out of us.
