This image recalled an event from my childhood that I try to relate in this little piece of writing that I titled The Rescue.
The boy approaches the large puddle that the recent rains have left behind and notices that it is bigger than the others.
Surprised, he sees that his face is projected like a mirror in it and an innocent smile escapes him.
He squats down and looks around to make sure he is alone and no one will see him do what he thinks.
His eyes have caught a small fish waddling back and forth across the expanse of water, he doesn't understand how it could possibly be there, even though there is a small stream of water nearby.
As he is on his way to school, he carries a container of water in his backpack and places the aquatic animal in it.
The task of catching it is not easy, it is small but agile and he does not want to get his shoes wet but neither does he want to leave the animal there.
After a few fruitless minutes without success, an idea comes to his brain and he executes it.
Putting his hand in the shape of a bowl he throws the water out of the puddle onto the road and in one of those actions he manages to make the fish go into it and now helpless on the dry side he can pick it up and put it into the container of his water.
Like a knight who has won a great battle, he places the container in his haversack and raises his hands in victory.
He then walks to the small stream which, because of the rain, has a stream of water, takes out the container in which the little creature moves and squats down, uncovers it and pours the contents into the stream, saying:
-Well, little fish, you're safe now.
Proudly he gets up and continues on his way to school.
