I have not done a #freewrite for ages, but I want to get back into them, if for no other reason than to let my thought roam again. They probably won't be hugely creative, more likely to be commentaries and thoughts - anyway, here is my response to this daily prompt

Double Crossed.

The fiat economic system has double crossed the citizens of most countries for many years. It is a flawed, broken system in the decline. Governments double cross their people by claiming economic growth, that the country is doing well. However, most everyday citizens never see this growth, life remains a daily financial struggle. Fiat banks encourage us to get into more and more debt, enslaving us economically to the status quo. Advertisers lure us into always wanting the latest and greatest now thing, and tempt with easy credit and finance. The catch is that getting into more and more debt reduces your chances of ever freeing yourself from that debt.

Payments are never ending. We all take two steps forward, and then three steps back. The debt spiral inevitably traps up in. Taking on new debt to pay old, or clearing one debt finally to sign up for something else. The old fiat economy is ever reliant on more spending, more debt, more artificial growth. Where will the spiral stop? How do we escape the great double cross of the fiat system.

My aim is to build a crypto future. Survive and get by in my fiat life, pay debts and try not to get into new debt - so far not really succeeding. But STEEM and crypto in general are the future. They are an asset and an income, not a debt trap. The goal is to build up as much STEEM as possible, slowly purchasing more with fiat, along with some other crypto coins for diversification. My hope for this year is that prices don't boom, another year of flat crypto would suit me. I haven't got enough, haven't earned enough yet. I do think this year will build and prices will rise, but I do hope it is a slow, orderly rise, not the manic boom and bust of 2017-18. This space needs to mature and grow organically. The good projects, and those with real world actual use cases, and a community of users like STEEM will slowly rise to the top.

Crypto is the solution to the double cross of the fiat banks, financial institutions and governments that currently have us trapped in debt. Crypto is freedom, fiat is financial slavery.
