The grizzly lumbered through the forest, sniffing and huffing at everything. He was starving, but luckily he had caught an enticing scent and was stalking it. It was getting stronger so it wouldn't be long now.
He kept up a good pace, letting his sensitive nose guide him towards his quarry. The smell became near overpowering, and he slowed to a crawl. His massive, clawed paws became noiseless on the soft ground. Closer and closer he crept.
A twig snapped under his paw, the noise echoing loudly in the overwhelming silence of the forest. But he didn't care. For he could now see his target, and there was no escaping from his hungry maw.
He opened his gaping jaw, teeth glistening in the sun, and darted forward, snapping his mouth shut with a loud clack. His mouth filled with the juicy, red liquid of...

A bunch of raspberries. Happily, the grizzly munched and munched, sucking the berries of the bushes. He was so lucky to have found a whole clearing full of the tasty treat, and after a whole afternoon and evening of gorging himself, he was a stuffed, and sticky, bear.
Now he was ready to go back go his cave, and take a long nap for winter.

I immediately thought of a bear hibernating for this prompt. No idea why that's what popped up, but I like my story. Hopefully the ending went better than you were expecting :) I don't actually know if raspberries are a wild berry that grizzlies can eat, but I know they do eat some kinds of berries. I'll just say artistic liberty :p
While bears can certainly be scary and dangerous, sometimes they do seem like big, cute dogs. I'd love to someday be able to interact with one :)
I’ve found a really easy way to get pictures for some of the more obscure topics that I write about. Instead of going to Unsplash or Pixabay, I just search on Wikipedia, and use the picture there. So far, every one that I have seen is CC of some variety, so it works out awesomely. I highly recommend it.
I am having my FreeWrite’s be an SBI giveaway. This is a way to reward my fellow FreeWriter’s, and hopefully motivate me to do daily freewrite’s again. No promises on that, but I am going to make an attempt.
What you need to do to enter is simply comment on this post with a link to your freewrite.
