One hundred years ago many children in America received their education in a one room school house. These class rooms would usually have children of all ages and only a single teacher. As a matter of necessity the teacher would ask some of the older students to work with some of the younger children to help them with their lessons. I think this valuable experience in which the student has to teach what they have learned to someone else is missing in today's educational system in the United States. The act of teaching really helps you learn the subject better yourself. It probably also breaks up the day and makes the school day less boring for students. I really feel we should try to incorporate the experience of teaching a subject to younger students back into today's current curriculum.
