Maddy sat by the window, in her favorite chair. She watches the birds flutter from tree limb to tree limb. Her memory starts to wander back to yester-year. Back to her childhood.
She sits staring and watching one bird in particular. A little bird with brown gleaming feathers, shining like no other. She notices it is the same one who seems to stare at her, unafraid. It hops onto the overhang next to the window.
She thinks back to when she and daddy would sit in that same chair, and watch the birds play.
Oh how she wishes she can change back the clock. She missed the times sitting on his lap, feeling the tenderness of his arms around her. They would sit for hours, silently watching birds and squirrels play in these trees. She can almost hear his chuckles at her excitement.
If only, that timer had not outdone the speed of my fingers against the keyboard. Thank you for stopping by to read my entry for today's prompt.
