We spent the entire weekend watching the baby birds through our back window and front door, being fed by their parents. The baby bird in the backyard was a mockingbird, a squirrel ran it out of it's nest and into our fig tree. It stayed there, still as a statue, all day Saturday, while the parents brought it food. It was gone today, and I saw no feathers, so I hope it made it to a taller tree. Now there's four hatchlings on the front patio ready to fly the coop. I believe they're martins, as they came back to the same nest they built two years ago. That nest is overflowing with baby's and if one of them doesn't fly off by tomorrow, I may find one on the floor. It amazing how the parents know which bird to feed when they spend just seconds at the nest. Hopefully they all make it this year, so they can come back next year and do it all over again. We're have a big garden show this Saturday, maybe I'll look for a bird feeder.
