I'm continuing to slog through Issue 4, and as I make my glacial progress, I'm reminded of an excellent plot structure video I watched awhile back.
Seriously, what would I do without Ellen? The gist of the video is that the mid plot point is the most often overlooked plot point when constructing a story. It is CRUCIAL for maintaining momentum and reader engagement in a narrative. It's a plot point that lets the reader know what this story's conflict is going to be about, and it's a moment where the main character(s) start making active decisions, rather than being simply thrust into conflict.
Given the intensely crucial nature of this plot point, I suppose it shouldn't surprise me that I find myself re-writing and finessing Issue 4 over and over again. I need it to feel right, so that way the rest of the story can unfold. I need to create a sense of narrative urgency, I gotta let people know why we're following all these characters, gotta give them an idea about what the antagonists truly want.
The good news is that I'm creeping towards all that. I still sense that my radical reworking of Issue 4, put me on the right path. The issue focuses almost entirely on Harvey Bolton, and we go to some WEIRD places. That being said, through his eyes the reader is going to be able to understand why we're here and what is at stake, and by the end of the issue, Harvey ought to be fully mobilized to action...

In order to more accurately reflect how close we are to funding this issue, I'm going to start listing what the current value of my liquid steem wallet is. The numbers that I have been citing this whole time don't reflect the steem loss that comes from other people receiving curation rewards, or that is lost through SBD conversion. Just putting this here for full transparency.
We have raised 737.62 USD worth of steem, which means we are 73.6 +% of the way to our goal! Once we hit 1000 USD, it will guarantee that we release all of issue 1, for free to steemit! At 1,200 USD, I will be able pay my letterist Lucas as well.
We are almost there, and we are getting there so much faster than I expected! At this rate, it is basically guaranteed that the new pages for issue 1 will be fully financed by steem, what an amazing community!
