So as already mentiomed in preparations towards world glaucoma awareness week celebration and world optometry week celebration we would be embarking on lots of outreaching within the the time frame left to conscientize and sensitize people about the various ocular condition that are causing people to loss their sights with emphasis on glaucoma and how best to live your life to be a little safe.
The outreach at Atasemanso was centered mainly at the Rural Community School because of which it became pertinent that we gave more attention to the students than the community people who wanted to partake. A total of 15 teachers were screened and 300 students got the chance to partake.
The program began with a general assembly where participants who gathered at the assembly hall were informed about the proceedings for the day and also educated on some of these conditions briefly with more emphasis on Refractive errors and glaucoma, refractive errors was due to the presence of the pupils.
The program started at 8:30 and lasted till 3pm. Main conditions diagnosed was refractive errors and binocular vision anomalies with the case of convergence insufficiency been more dominant. A second trip may be required to the community to reach the rest of the townfolks however the next outreach program is geared towards the Kotei town another similar rural community in Kumasi.
