As a father of three locking out your phone isn't always enough, so I locked out my phone app, contacts, calendar, camera controlled apps (I had 2), and a couple of apps I just don't want my kids into mine my work files. I already lock my phone with NFC (#JackomSmartring & #NFC band). They figured how that works once they saw my bracelet band left unattached to me.
So I needed another way of fooling my kids. So I found a #SmartKey for $1 on the Geek App, another $1 for shipping, a few weeks later BAM a SmartKey! I tired the default app then a couple more until I came across mSwitch (by nickit). This app actually decides when the output sound and input sound independently so I can use sound and ringtones with the sKey. I have to do more than just set the apps to the click numbers but you have to think like a kid. A kid will take the time out to try 1 click (clk), 2 click (clk), 3 clk more. So the real work begins.
First: all the applications set in the sKey need to become hidden. If you download and use an encrypted app hider, make sure they have an app bridge (so the key can use the app).
Second: the first two clicks we set to unused (just have nothing set). The first long click (Lck) I set for camera, for convenience.
Third: the contact app that's default in most phones can still access the dialer from within the contact app. So I don't have dialer set up, the dialer is hidden but I have Google bridged to use my dialer and contact apps for speech access with Google Now.
Fourth: my contact app has set to last (9clk), then messages (8clk), then less important apps.
Fifth: Long clicks (Lck) are difficult to do so if you use 1Lck don't use 3Lck but if you don't use 1Lck you could use 3Lck.
Sixth: don't tell your kids about the key. Yes they will ask when they see it. I have a thinker case so it hides in the case (sorta hides).
Now we are set up a bit more to keep the quick learning children out of our crap a bit longer. Here's 3D running off until another tip in #gadgetKIDprotection #socialGROW #dexperiment
