Another week down and its time for an update on STEEM BOTS. Today we introduce the look and feel of the robots as they will exist in the game. These only represent a small number of possible combinations. Though, even at this stage you can see how unique the can be.
Earlier this week @bflanagin wrote an article on the Steem Bot concepts. They were good, but they ended up breaking the original idea. (If you haven't read it you can by clicking here ). So the idea was tabled and after working with various models and styles we came up with what we think is the best "look and feel" for the first generation of robots. The models above represent three possible combinations of parts that will form your first robot companion!
Now for those with keen eyesight you will notice that the helicopter blades, spider legs, and tank tracks aren't represented in this post. Fear not they just didn't look quite right for this post and will be highlighted in upcoming articles.
On a technical front we have decided to use the Godot Game engine to "power" the game. It is a wonderful opensource project that will be getting better blender integration sometime next year.
It is our hope to not only highlight STEEM as a blockchain and social platform, but also what can be done using all Open Source technology. That being said here is our current software line up
- Blender (modeling and animation)
- Gimp / Blender (texturing)
- Godot (Game engine and distribution)
- STEEM (market place and ledger)
Like what you see? What do you think of the little "guys"?

About
STEEMBots is (or will be) a free to play Monster Rancher inspired bot building game built around the STEEM blockchain and ecosystem. If you want to find out more about the project or how you can help check out our fundition page here. We are looking to fund it on a monthly basis and even just a dollar a month will go a long way to making the game a reality.
