Wie es hierzu kam/ How this came about
Schon einige Zeit verfolge ich die Posts dieser Challenge, es ist immer interessant über Spiele vergangener Jahre zu lesen und sich zu erinnern - oder zu fragen wieso man von diesem Spiel so gar nichts mitbekommen hat. Letztes Wochenende hat mich @nerdtopiade nominiert und jetzt bin ich vom Zelten wieder daheim und kann starten!
I've been following the posts of this challenge for some time now, it's always interesting to read about games of the past and to remember them - or to ask yourself why you didn't hear anything about this game. Last weekend @nerdtopiade nominated me and now I am back from my camping trip and can start!
Es war einmal... / Once upon a time...
Ich nehme euch mal mit auf eine Zeitreise ins letzte Jahrtausend. Die UdSSR war in Afghanistan einmarschiert, die Neue Deutsche Welle schwappte durch Deutschland, in Gorleben wird demonstriert und im Zimmer eines Freundes stand auf einmal so ein Gerät. "Da kann man Spiele mit spielen". Ah so. Aber dann war da auf einmal etwas auf dem Fernseher zu sehen. Bunte sich bewegende Objekte, nicht aus dem Kopf zu bekommende Geräusche die immer hektischer wurden: Space Invaders!
I'm taking you back in time to the last millennium. The USSR had invaded Afghanistan, it was the year of the Miracle on Ice and the eradication of smallpox when one day a strange device appeared in a friend's room. "You can play games with that." Aha. But then suddenly there was something to see on the tv screen. Colourful moving objects, sounds you couldn't get out of your head which became more and more hectic: Space Invaders!

Über das Spiel muss ich wohl nicht viel erzählen. Wir sind die heldenhaften Verteidiger gegen Aliens, die in geordneter Formation im Anflug sind. Es gibt ein paar Deckungsmöglichkeiten und ab + zu kommt oben ein weiteres Raumschiff dabei - vermutlich um zu schauen wie weit die Invasorenflotte ist. Denn darum geht es: die böse Aliens dürfen uns nicht erreichen. Geschieht dies ist das Spiel vorbei.
I don't have to tell you much about the game: we are the heroic defenders against aliens approaching in orderly formation. There are a few block for cover and now and then another spaceship appears at the top of the screen - probably to see how far the invader fleet is. Because that's what it's about: the evil aliens must not reach us. If this happens, the game is over.

Und so kam es dass wir nachmittags nicht mehr in der Stadt herumhingen sondern im abgedunkelten Raum saßen und spielten. :)
And so it came that in the afternoons we no longer hung out in the city center but sat in a darkened room and played. :)

Ich blieb übrigens dem Atari treu bis irgendwann ein NeXT ins Haus kam, aber das ist eine Geschichte die ich vielleicht später einmal erzähle.
By the way: I remained faithful to the Atari brand until there was an opportunity to use a NeXT, but that's a story I might tell later.
