The Blood of Old is a game about a medieval style city. You build structures, you gather resources, and you manage your populace in a very Sim-City style way, feeding them, and giving them a tax to pay. Except, it isn't nearly as optimised, fun; or enticing as Sim City, or Age of Empires, or Banished, or other games of the sort.
Instead, it has poor optimisation (even for something developed in the Unity Engine) - and you can quickly encounter game breaking framerates by playing the unbridled mode of the game.
This was a title that was most likely picked up in an Indie-Gala type bundle, most likely for any and all trading cards that it may have had, in order to increase my Steam Ranking and get some sort of terrible "ROI".
Now, this game will sit forever in my Steam Library as a reminder of a developer's efforts, which by the looks were a solo effort in the Unity engine. The game had a failed IndieGoGo Campaign raising just three pounds.
The Steam release had two versions - the old Version, and a rejuvenated version, which is the one I've spoken about so far. The feature set that was promised in the original campaign, and what was delivered; are two very different things indeed. Having said that, the game never left Alpha, and as a result; appears to have remained in a sorry state.
That's okay, everyone needs a project to get them off the ground, though.
