In two weeks, I’m going to launch the Patreon for my Spotlights project. Since my initial announcement Patreon declared their intention to change their fee structure and then quickly rescinded that after a lot of backlash.
In between I was running a lot of math to find interesting “break points” in the fee structure. As a result I created two new reward tiers that are about participating in a kind of game. Despite Patreon going back on the fee structure changes, I’m going to keep the two tiers and the associated game.
All the people at one tier get to send me photographs of things players in an RPG might use. The people at the other tier get to send me photographs of things a GM in an RPG might use. I’m encouraging people to be creative not in just what they choose to photograph but in how the things are presented. I want people to be as suggestive as possible.
I’m going to take the photos and group them into sets that I think look like an interesting game. And then I’m going to hold a naming contest here on steemit for these games. The GM tier is admittedly a bit expensive, so I’m anticipating a lot of really strange GM-less games.
The current plan is to hold this contest once a month. But if I get a lot of participants I may spread out the release of the photo groups and aggregate the contest results at the end of the month.
