Battletech is a brand new game from Harebrained Schemes known for their I must say epic Shadowrun Returns games. In this universe your goal is to raise an empire from the ashes using old rusty machines of war and maintain your mercenary company.
After playing and analyzing the game I came to the conclusion that his game is a mech maintenance simulator with occasional turn based strategy combat. Why do I say that, well you will do the battle scenarios where your mechs get damaged and your mechwarriors get injured, after missions your job is to fix the mechs and heal your team up, that requires time and money. Is that fun you might ask yourself? If you like Battletech universe and history of Mechwarrior games the answer should be a hard yes.

Very fun aspect of the game is all the micromanagement you can do, your mechwarriors can level up and increase in power, your mech have multiple systems you need to maintain, heat systems for example can destroy your mech if you fire too many laser shots, you need to chill out for a turn or two or blow yourself up. After ever mission you can salvage the gear found and include stronger mechs in your arsenal as well as all the equipment parts like advanced hardpoint weapons, heat sinks, jump jets and all sorts of extra goodies. Exploring the galaxy and taking missions to increase your reputation and bank balance is all you need to do and you will be quite successful at this game.

Not everything is peaches and cream though, the game is definitely rough around the edges, there is a nasty memory leak which puts a strain on your PC like nothing else, animations are clunky looking meaning you will see a lot of clipping and bad collisions, dialogue and voice acting is mediocre at best. So you can notice that the game is not perfect, but it does offer quite a lot of happy time if you like these type of games. Score: 83/100
