(Yes, those were the original lyrics The Pussycat Dolls were meant to sing ... true story. :D )
I have been playing the wonderful game steempunk-net for a while now (since November 2017), and reached level 10 (the highest so far, hint hint development-gods!) awhile ago too but I know that I can always learn something new about playing it.
Several players have remarked recently on the fact that they have collected no weapons or armour out of any of the chests they've opened. Now, this could be a glitch in the game of course, but we have to eliminate all possible - and simple - reasons first.
So it was an excellent reminder, even to an old-timer like me, when @dehenne mentioned this:
weapons and armor drop over steemit ... but not at the steempunknet account
if you are active at steemit, posting, voting, commenting ... your spf gets higher ... higher spf = more chance that smth drops
and spamming doesn't work
so if you make only comments like "hello" "thank you" "awesome" ... that doesn't help you with your spf
SPF = SteemPunkFactor
aka: the yellow bar in your game profile

You want it to be as high as possible (highest is a 1).
When you fight other players who haven't been active for a while you might notice their SPF is quite low.

A couple of months ago my activity levels changed on Steemit. I cleared out a lot of names from my 'following' list in an experiment because my feed wasn't doing what it should, I felt, and in consequence I stopped commenting on posts I would normally have seen - which also affected my SPF factor and dropped the number of weapons & armour I was picking up from chest drops.
Although you might understand why I didn't really notice ... ;)

To be fair, we've all been distracted over the excitement of being able to (finally) build our houses and choose our rooms.
Currently, this is the holy grail of chest drop finds:

and the best place to find it is to have a tab open on the https://steemit.com/@steempunknet page, but this does not help us boost our profiles with the other factors needed in the game.
We need to keep in mind that part of what the game set out to do, was encourage people to be socially interactive with other people throughout the Steemit platform, as it notes in the whitepaper:
The game itself should enhance the user experience on steemit and support the active collaboration on this platform

Remember, too, that while you can only battle another player, you can (and should) be sociable with everyone on Steemit and this helps boost your game stats.
I've also been guilty lately of lazy commenting, as I am an introvert it is easier for me to grab a funny or thoughtfully-appropriate picture and use that to convey my message. So this has also contributed to my downward slide in both inventory collection and game stats.

A bit of fun you can have is to use the official list of players from which to choose your victims battle opponents.

Sometimes I like to pick a number (between 0 - 10) and choose players at that level. Sometimes I'll go through the alphabet and pick one player from each letter. Sometimes I'll just scroll down and stop randomly to pick someone. So much fun to be had. :D
I am by no means the only Top 10 player - there are currently 16 of us, along with some level 9's who are getting close; and I definitely wasn't the first to reach level 10 - I think either @jillfeint or @kahdafy had that pleasure :) - but just because I have reached some goals within the game does not mean the fun stops there.
The developers are constantly working to bring more dimensions to the game, as well as sorting out any bugs that turn up on occasion.

If you haven't already done so, make it a goal to get your name into the top player list, for which the stats are collected and published daily so check them out on the official page.

This is a great place to post comments, too. Do you play against your friends, perhaps? Well, post a challenge! Made it into the top list? Well heck, brag about it!
So what I am basically saying is that if I can reach these goals, so can you, but once you have don't just sit back and do nothing - there is always something you can try in the game. Read through the whitepaper on SPN's official website, plus all the other pages where tips are hiding in plain sight. If you have friends who haven't yet signed up to the game, annoy them until they do, and then slay them in the Clockwork Arena. Join a guild or create one of your own. Write stories or create artwork based around the steempunknet universe. Chat in the Discord server. And remember to socialise around Steemit.
p.s: if you like being highly entertained, following the weird piratey adventures of the Guild of WolfGuards is an excellent thing to do. :D

(p.p.s: we are only about 159SP away from becoming Plankton level II. That'll deserve a round of rum!)
