What is Dauntless?
Dauntless is a free-to-play MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online)/4-player co-op game where you hunt big behemoths in open-world islands to save the islands from the behemoths taking aether (or magical energy), as well as gain loot to build and craft your own weapons and armor. Some would say this game is like the Monster Hunter series, but that's mostly because there are not really any other games associated with this particular genre yet. The game is in alpha right now, soon to be going into beta and launching later this year.
Why I'm Excited
Being a fan of the Monster Hunter series, I cannot object to a similar concept in Dauntless. That, and there is a growing community forming around the game. The intention of the developers, Phoenix Labs, to stay diligent and continue developing the game after launch is also appealing. Plus, with it being free and all, WHY NOT?!?! Dauntless not only looks beautiful and fun, but the developers are also making it so that micro transactions are not pay-to-win, which I greatly appreciate in a serious game.
What's Next!
My goal is to write multiple posts on Dauntless as news develops and as I hopefully make it into the beta. If not, I will strongly consider purchasing a founders' pack.
