The year is 2024 and Scrooger has decided that he is working way too much... So he is taking some time for himself now and then. How? Well, he used to love games when he was growing up. A simple way to escape reality for a few mere moments. Thus, he will be posting about his little adventures from time to time. The game in question is Red Dead Redemption 2.
I have never played the game before, but all the reviews and opinions always seem extremely positive. It is also by one of my favorite game studios, Rockstar Games.
I was thinking about making videos about gameplay but I feel I need to record my voice and opinions with that over a mic. That would disturb the kids and the wife as they are normally fast asleep when I get my short and much-needed time to unwind. Normally I do admin on projects and such, but I feel I am burning my candle on both ends too much lately so even if I can just get a few minutes of escaping the real world for a bit then I am going to go ahead and take it.
RDR2 seems like the perfect game to do so, even though I am not a fan of cowboys, I do love a good story and attention to detail.
So here I was with the game installed and ready to go... Let's hop right in!
From the get go you are not given much detail about what is going on or where you are going. I know I am the character called Arthur. We have a few people with us and there is a terrible snowstorm going on. There is also a gang after us.
Oh, did I mention how good this game looks!?!? Mainly the reason I want to blog about it since it is almost like a photography blog because the game has its in-game camera to take amazing shots of the superb graphics. Anyway, back to the point.
Snow storm!
We finally made it out of the snow storm after rescueing some lady we found in a cabin along the way. I wanted to take photos of it, but it was the first gunfight and I was on the edge of my seat to be a good cowboy.
A while after the snowstorm my fellow men and I rode around looking for some food and for a fellow that got attacked by wolves. We found him. He will be fine... I hope.
I took a shot of the guys hanging out in our new home before we went our merry way and I have to admit the attention to detail is insane.
So after the storm eventually passed and our food supplies were taken care of (Yes, I went hunting, there are no pictures because hunters don't have the time to take them... also the camera might scare of the animals =P) we decided to head to greener grounds and find a better place to lay low... since people are after us. Reasons unknown at this point.
Oh, this might actually be a huge part, but I was to into the game to even think of taking any pictures. We raided a bandit camp and stole their plan to rob a train. Then we used their plan to rob the train, it was epic! Next time something cool like that happens I will take some more pictures... (Darn it would actually just be easier to take video and record my voice as things move along. Like a streamer... Ah well, just having fun with this for now.)
Here we are heading to the majestic grass-is-greener-on-the-other-side.
Things are looking up!
We had to go through some rivers and that is where we almost lost a wheel...
Luckily fixing it only took a minute.
We kept going on and on until we found the perfect spot...
The views in this game is just amazing. It is amazing to just stop and look at it. In most games, we just rush to the next objective, but this one needs to be admired. It is breathtaking.
We finally found our camp and set up our tents and stations...
Time for Scrooger to hang it up and go rest himself. We will see where the journey takes us the next time he plays...
