This post will be an ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN between the two Graphics card manufacturers AMD and Nvidia.
First lets start with the specs:
AMD Radeon RX VEGA 64
- 64 Compute units.
- 1247 MHz Base Clock
- 1546 Mhz Turbo Clock
- 8 GB of HBM2 memory
AMD Radeon RX VEGA 56
- 56 Compute units.
- 1156 MHz Base Clock
- 1471 Mhz Turbo Clock
- 8 GB of HBM2 memory
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080
- 2560 NVIDIA CUDA Cores
- 1607 MHz Base Clock
- 1733 MHz Turbo Clock
- 8 GB GDDR5X Memory
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070
- 1920 NVIDIA CUDA Cores
- 1506 MHz Base Clock
- 1683 MHz Turbo Clock
- 8 GB GDDR5X Memory
As anyone would expect VEGA 64 is up against GTX 1080 and VEGA 56 is up against GTX 1070.
Lets end the boring stuff here and jump straight into the benchmarks.
Pricing:
As we could see a weird trend in the Game Benchmarks which sometimes favor Nvidia or sometimes AMD, it is all because of the Game optimization by the developers. When moving on to Synthetic Benchmarks, we can see that AMD takes a clear lead except in 3DMark Time Spy, where VEGA 64 loses to GTX 1080.
Conclusion
Why should we go for AMD?
AMD is a company which makes products keeping every kind of customer in their mind, and it is the same for Graphics Cards as well. You could use their Graphics Cards for Gaming, Content Creation, Cryptocurrency Mining and they are cheaper than Nvidia at the same time.
In the end it all comes to who provides more performance at a lower price. Right now AMD is in the lead, I hope that Nvidia has an answer to AMD VEGA. No matter who's the winner the consumers are always benefited.
